I just recently received my Class A CDL from a private school. I was offered a local job driving a pickup with a 30 ft trailer attached starting at 20$ an hour. Should I take this or will it hurt me if I want to move back to big rigs down the line?

Move back to big rigs? You haven't been there yet...how do you go back to something when you haven't been there yet?
Just having the license doesn't mean you know what you're doing....yet....what you learned in school was just enough to get pass your license tests. Just a tip of the iceberg so to speak. Stay away too long, you minimize the carriers available to get started with...you might end up having to do a refresher period from the school you graduated from. Better check and see if this is an option from the school.White_Knuckle_Newbie and Puppage Thank this. -
Yes the school I attended does offer refreshers

$20 hr. is only good if the company has an excellent benefits package. If you don't want to be away from home it will be ok.
Otherwise, choose a regular trucking company and don't waste that cdl school diploma.otherhalftw Thanks this. -
Do you have endorsements or TWIC ID Card?
-
Yea I really would hate wasting my diploma but I really am trying to avoid going OTR if possible
-
Yes I have all endorsements and my twic. I'm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
