Sketchy carriers - brokers, how bad have you been screwed?

We have a huge problem in this industry.It seems like regardless of race there is ALWAYS going to be people who cant provide good service.SHIPPERS and GREEDY wannabee brokers please stop looking for cheap steering wheel jockeys.Pay 15% or 20% more and get a trouble free delivery.Or just pay for all the "EXTRAS" of having a turd carrier that isnt capable of ANY SERVICE. Quality shouldnt be cheap!

 

Bad service and the "don't care" attitude is everywhere these days and all races are guilty of it. Livestock haulers used to hold ourselves to a higher standard and keep everyone in check. There's a new breed now that seems to think they know better than the others that came before them. If a guy said he'd take the load you never used to have to worry if they were going to show up or not. Now you get the call they're an hour out when they're two or more away, or just s no call no show and you're looking for a truck. A couple weeks ago I got to the house at 430am. Crawl into bed with momma and the phone rings at 445. A friend of mine gave a load to a guy the night before. At 930 he said he was 2 hours from the salebarn. Guy wakes up at 4am with no text from the guy saying he was loaded. He makes some calls, cattle are still standing at the salebarn and he can't get ahold of the truck. So I end up covering the load and everyone is mad at me because they don't know what all happens in the hours before I get called back out to go load it. That kind of stuff never used to happen.

 

My Grandpa RIP.Used to drive trucks for the US Marines.He told me when i started my trucking bussines"You'll do fine just keep er tween the ditches.And that thing between your ears is your $ maker".Gosh I miss old timers.Now its a full blown zoo with no cb,no handshakes , no pull over to help elderly folk nor eachother and a billion broken promises.I started as an o\op right out of high school.Im still trucking ....but had i started as a fry cook I think 2 -5years i could be a general manager and by now could have retired and started another carreer while collecting a check.Instead CARB and the greedy sleeazy State of California says my 2 classic peterbilts that dont smoke and average 7 mpg need to go. Meanwhile everybody who's decided to break all the rules and not follow them are buying up everyone's used trucks and running them to death .Beware ,guys all this stuff will eventually reach everyone.Independent truckers need to wise up.If you don't at least Take Home $1500 a week or more, Driving 50 hrs a week"also known as Legal" there are high school kids delivering pizza and waiting tables that can do that and have a life and not be forced to spend 80-100 hrs a week to get paid fo only 40 of them.WE as independents have little say because we get swallowed up by bigger cheeper faster morons happy to make welfare money and beat the bajeezus out of there plastic s*** box while spewing grey DEF urea smoke from their "clean air" volvos and frieghtshakers.SORRY Rant over.#### good cofee
