Any current drivers for TransAm? How is the mileage? How do they treat you? What do you like or not like about the company? Thinking about switching there.

Noooooooooo........
Runnnnnnnn.....
Trans Am tricks newbies into leasing.
And company drivers do 2 or 3 swaps a week. 2200 miles to 2500 is average miles a week.Manemane Thanks this. -
the other part that you need to look into is truck speed. I'm governed at 65 and I pass Trans Am trucks all the time, just something to think about
-
What is a swap? And honestly, I'm with the biggest company now and I am lucky if I get 1500 a week. I've had $0 checks and $33 checks. One week I got lucky and got a $400 check. We're in trucks that are crappy IMO. My health insurance for just me as a healthy, young person is $400 a month, or 90 something a week. 2200 sounds great to me and their trucks are nice so even if I', sitting a lot, I have a decent truck to sit in.
Something has got to give. I know there's no such thing as the perfect company, but some are better than others in ways that I would like. The one I'm at has nothing I like. I can be broke and comfortable, or making money but uncomfortable, but I cannot live my life broke, unhappy AND uncomfortable. It's just too much.Mtn Gal and Dark_Majesty_06 Thank this. -
The company I'm at now is supposedly governed at 62. I say supposedly because they say they are but then the shops will tell you it depends on what truck you get. You may get a 2016 freightliner Cascadia that is set up so you can only go 58 on the pedal and 60 with cruise control on. You may get a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia that is setup so that the pedal is at 60 and cruise control is at 62.
Moral of the story is, I'm used to going slow. That's old news. I don't care about speed. I care about pay, trucks, benefits, etc. The more important stuff, ya know? Thanks for the advice though.
CruisingAlong Thanks this. -
You have to sit down with pen and paper and examine why your situation is what is. Are you a company driver or in a lease purchase? Are you available for dispatch everyday? What is your pay structure? Do you track and record everything that you do?Do you take advances? So on and so on. The first step to getting out of a hole is to make sure you're not the one who is doing the digging! And if you are...stop!!

Swap or Repower. Different companies call it different things.
Its when 2 drivers meet at specific location and exchange trailers.
Normally done when one driver runs out of hours or hours won't let them make on time delivery.Mtn Gal Thanks this. -

Type in search "transAm still " there is a ton of info. I have been reading that forum for a few years.
They have a 11 day training program for newbies and then they let them go on their own.
They do push lease , all you have to do is refuse a lease.
Just stay company.
They have great trucks KW 680 & 700's
Fridge , APU and I think inverters.
The swaps come because people run out of hours so they give their load to someone who as hours and then you will take their load that still has plenty of time on it.Mtn Gal and Adrienna Brown Thank this. -
Thank you for the advice. I will always refuse lease. I know what I want and that may be a possibility way in the future but definitely not now. And yeah at my current company we call them repowers so I was confused when he said swap. As long as TransAm has good mileage, I'm okay with making 32 cents a mile. As it stands I make 36 currently but that means nothing if you're not running much.
I have 0 tickets, 0 accidents, 100% on time rate, never been late, etc.akfisher and scottlav46 Thank this.
