I used to run a truck that was 290hp fresh out of the cracker jack box, but 30 years on I'd be lucky if it was putting 200hp to the ground. There are a lot more hills in your area than I'd like to see for that kind of power, but having run out there with an itty-bitty motor, I can honestly say you'll get where you're going most of the time. You'll pull hills in low range, and be lucky to see 3mpg with a tail wind, but you'll get there.

what are the tires looking like? I would road test with a full trailer. Then take and have alignment checked. Then have. another set of eyes or two check out the splice in the frame. From being stretched. My two cents.

Too bad about the super 10.
I've been running an M11 off and on since we bought it used in 2007. Mine is a 370/400 though at least that's what the engine plate says. 13 speed, 4.33 rear. 22.5" lo pro rubber. Celect+ ECM.
We've had N14, ISX, 3406b, C15 6nz, C15 MBN, 14L pre EGR series 70 and the little M11 gets a mile per gallon better as long as I drive 60-62. This is dragging 80,000 down l-81 in NY and PA. ~1.3 million miles on the block I think. Maybe 300k on the inframe. Parts for the rebuild were cheap. 1,000 lbs lighter on the steers than a big block.
Mine leaks oil at the front accessory drive cover, at the air compressor mount, at the oil pan and the rear main seal. Blew two head gaskets right after we bought it but that was due to a sunken liner and a mechanic that thought he could replace the head gasket without addressing the underlying cause.
You can make money with an M11 but I would prepare for a rebuild sooner rather than later. I would also be checking out the drive train to see if it will handle 400 HP and turn that ECM up. Also find out what rear gear ratio it has.... I wouldn't go much under 4.33.
It's a '98 T800 and we paid $18k CDN almost 10 years ago. I figure it's still worth that today what with all the emissions crap and especially the elog rule. She's a money maker.Grijon Thanks this. -
You don't like the super 10? That and a 13spd is all I care to own. Hard to beat only having to touch the shifter on every other shift!rank Thanks this.

Just prefer 13 or 18 is all. Currently rocking a 15 so I understand you can't always get what you want......Terry270 Thanks this.

Change of plans guys,, i think im gonna get a nice 2006 freightliner columbia condo sleeper, 299k on the Detroit 60, 13spd, 915k on the clock. Asking price 23,750. Its very clean just minor normal wear on the inside.. think this is a better choice. For my first truck to start owner op.

That sounds much better, like I said before, might not be the best looking rig out there, but their cheap to run and maintain...remember, no matter how good it looks, EVERY truck is gonna break down eventually...it's the nature of the beast!!!
Good Luck!!AshtonMarie81 Thanks this.
