Well here it is,
I am a military veteran who received his CDL in 2010 and has never used it. So here is my situation,
Called Melton was told no problems I would be giving a road test on the first day of orientation and as long as I pass that no issues. Well I then received a call saying due to a lot of drivers in my situation coming down and failing the road test I was giving 2 options.
Option 1: Provide my own means of transportation to Tulsa, OK for orientation and pay for my first night stay (Sunday). When I pass the road test I would be reimbursed for my travel and 1 nights stay on my first check and they would take care of the rest of my stay during orientation.
Option 2: I was sent the road test form that is filled out by whoever is conducting the road test and told go to a CDL school and see if they would allow me to do that test and just verify I am capable. Then Melton would send me to orientation like everyone else. Only problem is my CDL school wants $2200 for a 40 hour refresher. Actually the cheapest refresher is $1000.
Now I'm trying to see if this is all worth it. Will they try to get rid of me for something stupid during the road test if I go with option 1 or should I waste more money (which I don't have) and go with option 2. This is frustrating.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Basically what I'm sayin is you'll be fine, just keep an open mind. And thanks for your service. -
Who is your recruiter? I did a refresher with them and they never said anything like that ro me. The driving test is like super easy. Two lefts and a right is all I had to do. I got a bus ticket and they paid for the whole week.

Do you have friends that drive that would let you shift their truck around a parking lot for long enough to get your driving back in step?

Just make sure you know how to do paper logs. You have to log your time during orientation and do paper while in training truck. Call and ask for Kelly and see what she says. It just sounds wrong to me
