Love's in Roseburg Oregon catches fire

ROSEBURG, Ore. - A fire damaged a truck stop early Wednesday morning.

No one was injured.

Douglas County Fire District No. 2 responded at 1:36 a.m. to Love's Travel Stop, 280 Grant Smith Road. Crews encountered heavy smoke and flames from the rear of the building.

A customer saw the smoke and reported it to employees, who called 911 and grabbed 2 fire extinguishers.

The employees opened the mechanical/storage room and found the room filled with fire. The employees used both extinguishers, but the fire had already spread into the roof, firefighters said.

The first fire crews on scene sounded a second alarm, unsure how far the fire had spread into the attic.

While crews worked to put out the fire in the mechanical/storage room, a ladder truck was used to extinguish the fire coming through the roof.

Fire crews remained on scene for several hours cooling and removing hot spots of the smoldering styrofoam insulation located between the corrugated metal and the rubber roof membrane.

Fire investigators traced the fire to the mechanical/storage room around the air compressor, but the exact cause is still undetermined, according to the fire marshal.
