Boy I'm glad I'm not driving a "company" truck. My old gal will run 80 plus if I've a mind to. Of course I drive for a friend running local stuff. Rock, grain, and liquid. I usually run about 62 ish. Although sometimes I get wound up to 70 when I'm not paying attention. I've got 300 gal capacity fuel tanks and can run about two and a half days on full tanks. I have absolutely no idea what kind of fuel mileage I get though. We fuel at home and don't keep track of our miles for the day.

That seems like a smart way for a company to do it. I sure wish mine would. Incentivise it. Give the driver a little more control and allow him a slightly faster truck as long as he doesn't get speeding tickets, have any accidents, and keeps the mpg's profitable.

I worked for Morgan Southern and they cut their trucks from 70/75 down to 63 and 60. That's quite a come down. Not why I quit them though.

CCC Transportation in Jacksonville, Florida just moved all of the fleet to max speed of 57 MPH, and that can only happen with the cruise control one, otherwise it's a max speed of 55 MPH. We are the slowest trucking company in the state and I bet I haven't passed another semi in over 3 weeks.
