El Nino is just a temporary hiccup and from what the "experts" say its just about ended for this cycle. Secondly I doubt fuel will remain low for much longer and im sure they are going to want to pack these ships as full as they can. And as far as the Port congestion goes on this end, my guess is they will handle it like any other big corporation in the transportation industry, deal with it when you get there.

You think this affects the Midwest negatively? Been thinking running containers out of Columbus Ohio rail yards. Just some local + % pay
ccbg2013 Thanks this. -
Obviously the shipping companies see things differently regarding the viability of mega ships, and as for your scientific opinion and dismissal of the accepted reality that is climate change I guess being a driver gives you insights into the physical alterations that actual scientists have missed.Last edited: Apr 8, 2016

Your actual scientists also have a hard time making up their minds whether eating eggs will give you cancer, vascular disease, three heads....then they turn a 180* as soon as another company pays them to say something else. EPA is a cash-cow, and "climate change" (formerly known as "global warming") is their top-producing feed. I bet you think the autonomous trucks can really get it done too, right ?Lone Ranger 13, 12 ga and sourdiesel Thank this.

OK, besides the Port congestion and climate change ........ Does anyone have an opinion on how this will affect O/O 's. ??

Read the link...
There is not going to be any increase in container numbers in the short term -24mths- after that will depend on lake depth, shipping companies willing to pay the increased cost of transiting the canal, and shipping companies deciding to go all in on the mega ships.
Unlikely to be a boon for road transportation in foreseeable future.brodgers Thanks this. -
10, 20, 30 years onto the future this will be a boon. Thinking short term in current economic conditions such as the here and now, well, that's short sighted. And as Derailed pointed out low fuel costs aren't going to last forever.
There has been nothing settled scientifically about climate change. Of course climate change happens and is a normal, natural thing that has occurred over eons. "Man made climate change" however is a massive political shell game - not anything close to settled science. It's kooky theory.Lone Ranger 13 and fordconvert Thank this. -
This reads like a stand up act on open mic night at the Flat Earth Society.
Really need to do more reading of actual science publications and do less viewing of Fox.brodgers Thanks this. -
Save your left wing nut job stories for the politics forum.Lone Ranger 13 Thanks this.

I don't put faith into ANY propoganda outlets and/or political fronts trying to pass themselves off as science. You need to wake up and understand what a useful idiot you are.fordconvert Thanks this.
