Where did you installed it? How long is the new shaft vs the old one?

And what kind of Browning? I have a 78.

Well got tired of the 5.5 ft Francis flopping in the wind, its just way too much on the flexible side, so I stopped in the Petro in Albert Lea MN and bought a 5ft Firestick for $22.00, not the tunable tip just the regular one. Much better the Iowa wind blew it just enough to make it vertical. Swr is 1.2 across the band straight out of the package, didnt have to trim or make any adjustments, tx and rx are excellent and static level much better than predator 10k and Francis. Will keep this setup for a while until I get the urge to try something different, afterall cb stands for constant buying.

Looks like my Browning, but where'd you get the bottom shaft from? Looks like 3ft of whip, the coil, then 3ft of shaft?
I'm looking for a second 5FGT from Wilson. 5ft 5/8wave top loaded fiberglass. I may add springs to keep from breaking and to give more height. But I'm tired of buying antenna. I need one or two to be my last. Skip shooter,Sirio, Monkey Made or Predator. Seems I just don't receive as good in the Cascadia as I did in the Prostar. One antenna, dual, the Prostar I always got at least five miles. I don't know how far I get now. No one is talking it seems.
Thanks for the picture. -
got it at the CB shop at the Petro in Atlanta

I have seen posts recommending buying a stainless mount from the guy in ohio to keep the corrosion down. Should I also look for a stainless bracket to mount the antenna? Recommendations?
I think I want to try a dipole arrangement, with a 7 foot tunable antenna. This seems to have the best results from what I've read. Suggestions? -
The unsupported 6ft SkipShooter bit the dust. Had it about 8 months or so.
Interesting that I picked up a 4.5ft Francis to hold me over until I can get another SkipShooter or something and a check on my radios SWR meter is showing that the antenna is too long. The 6ft SkipShooter was an even 1.2ish on all channels. Do these Francis' have an adjustable tip?
