I recently quit my job as a mechanic and I'm considering part time driver work (class a).
How could I possibly remember the dates of employment for the last 10 years? I can get somewhat close as I've had only 4 jobs in that time frame. Do companies freak out about this ? or fudge and go is ok?
I have decided line haul is probably best for me, considering Saia, a Mail contractor, possibly a FedEx contractor. Would like about 3-4 days a week. Early AM work is not for me, so probably night shift. BTW I'm in Cincinnati so seems a fairly strong market for drivers. Also, I already have doubles and tanker endorsements.
Any thoughts, suggestions?

I always just do history rounded to month. Never an issue. But you might try contacting the companies and see if they can give you exact dates.

Put unemployed should be fine.

Being a mechanic, just tell them you were working under the table or trying to open a shop and it never materialized. Sounds better than saying laying around watching Oprah.

W-2 Forms for taxes will show dates of employment.

If I were to have it all over again I would keep a book with a lap top and record everything. I would have sections on everything the day had to offer. Best place to eat just about all you need Then when you come through there again 20 years later you won't have to guess.
