    Alright, Long but short.....

Lived in CA all my life... Held my CDL here in CA for 8 Yeras. Last year I moved to AR. New start. Well, Family got homesick after about 5 months. We just up and left to move there.

Anyway, I move back to CA, got this really ###### job offer with a certain company. I go down to the DMV to exchange my AR CDL for my CA CDL.....

Took all the test including hazmat and doubles, air brakes, CDL knowledge and 4-wheeler.

After this testing was done, I was told nopw sorry... I cannot give you this. You either have to settle with a CDL-A with tanker (That was on my AR CDL) or just a CDL-A. And could not add endorsements until I get my hard copy in the mail in 10 days.. oh and pay again.....

Well its been a month now.... No hard copy. I called the other day really pissed off because I do not like not working. I was told It takes up to 6 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and I also dont have Air Brakes either....lmao! Really?

All this hassle because I followed the law and within 30 days switched my CDL over to my new resident state.

The state of CA are crooks... an all kinds of other names... hurts to be back and hurts more when they stomp on my face like they did by doing this.... I wann move back out just becuase of this.. and take my new found family business out also just so CA gets no pennies from that either!

A CDL "A" has the endorsement with air brakes. Doubles, tankers, Hazmat are each additional ones. If they gave you a tanker, it was probably with Hazmat, if so, you need to go for a Federal background check which has nothing to do with DMV. You need to pay additional fees for the Feds. If your approved(no felonies) they will let you know and DMV you release your license. Here's a tip, when you go for the Federal background check, get the package deal which includes a TWIC card. Save you money.

Yeah, I am really not new to that... I held Hazmat before and did also redo my hazmat with TSA before I went in to get my CA CDL. And no, the DMV lady on the phone said I dont even have air brakes.. aint that something.....

so I got all my ducks in a row, medical, TSA letter/background, and passed all the test.....

I told the lady on the phone, I had my CA CDL for the last 8 years, I move away and all a sudden I am a student again?...lmao

Here in CA allot la lot of the dmvv employees are pretty inept. Try another dmv employee, try the supervisor, try another DMV office. It sucks, but oftentimes that will get you what you need.

I know when I get out of this state I'm not coming back. I just switched from local work to regional/OTR, if my wife and kids weren't in California still I'd tell my company just don't send me back....

I'm not sure about California but in missouri and colorado the 2 places I've held my cdl the air brake isn't an endorsement it is a restricrion if you don't take the air brake test they put a restriction on your license,

I believe all states are that way but could be wrong. If you don't have an air brake restriction on your license you should be good to go

I don't have any luck at the Texas DMV. September 2015, I got a HazMat endorsement after presenting a certified copy of my birth certificate, TSA check and finger printing, and taking tests. Good for 5 years, right?

5 months later, February 2016, my CDL expired and I went to Texas DMV and she says my Hazmat endorsement is expired, and will have to retest, and TSA check and finger print again. Finger print again after 5 months, really? I just let it go.

And months before that, I decided to self certify my health card in person at the DMV so there would not be any possibility that something would get screwed up. So I arrived at the DMV with my CDL and my health card. I was thinking she would just punch in the information into her computer and that would be it. But no, she clipped my license and I carried around two sheets of paper for three weeks waiting for my hard copy to arrive in the mail. I don't like my license clipped for trivial stuff like that.

The problem is that you speak and read English. You gotta wing it when in Rome.

What part of CA are you in? I'm in Sacramneto. We have a commercial drivers dmv branch in West Sacramento. They seem to know a lot more than the regulars. Not sure if the rest of the state has Commercial driver only branches. Might be worth looking into.

Yes, the rest of the state has commercial test facilities, but they can be a good drive from some people, they are not as common as tegular regular DMV locations.
