Well, what happened to me was really my fault when you get right down to it.
But my first truck was a piece of ****. It had opti-idle that often would not work.
My second truck DROVE ever so much better. But it had the off brand
APU and it went down about 3 weeks in.
I generally slept well enough at night. But usually not so well during the day.
Couple that with 2am pick ups and such and that's what took me down.
Trailer rubs and one door knocked off.

I am using PAM's program to re-obtain my cdl after a few years off, i have done my homework and so far the only issue i can see is the pay is a little on the low end for company drivers.

If they run true to form you'll get pretty decent miles at beginning pay. As pay goes up miles will suffer.
I wish you the best of luck.

Maybe I did better than that. But you'd never get my Sister or Dad to say anything nice...

So here in my area (Louisville, KY) PAM has been running an ad on Craigslist for drivers to run a dedicated lane I-65 from Louisville, KY to Birmingham, AL (366.2 miles one way) -- 3 round trips per week. I was thinking about it..it doesn't sound too bad for me, a driver who has been out of the industry for a little over a year, as a way to get my feet wet again and as a re-entry into the trucking industry. I'm not too concerned about pay starting off as I am 58 years old and draw a pension. I just need to get back into the swing of things and this dedicated run sounds like a good way to ease back into it. Any of you all who have some thoughts on the matter--good, bad, or otherwise--I would appreciate hearing from you. I'm sure there are some issues you more recent drivers might have thought about that I may be overlooking. Thanks in advance.

Had home been at or near one end the dedicated I ran until my truck died would have been perfect! But I would have had to give it up sooner or later anyway.
It was Shreveport, LA on Monday morning and Lockport, NY on Thursday afternoon. Enough miles to pay and enough time to smell the roses!
