So it would appear while I'm stationary I'm receiving calling stations behind me up to 5-7 miles away however they are only receiving me up until that 4-5 mile mark then I start fading out on them.

    darthanubis Thanks this.

If your antennas are angled forward it's because trucks behind you are not in your radiation lobes coming from the antenna(s).

    darthanubis and Sham3R Thank this.

When they are in the same lane behind me I don't have any problems talking with them provided they are with in 3-4 miles.

It's when they are eastbound and I'm westbound that I lose them pretty quick. I'm still receiving them really well but nothing is Tx'd from me so I'm thinking you right about the RF Field being inhibited by my mirror possibly..

    darthanubis Thanks this.

Think of it as the shape of a circle/egg shape on top of your ant..Thats the basic signal shape..
For the life of me im blank on the name of the tool to see what signal shape comming from your ant but i got one..Tool itself is cheap($40 or less)..It will show you where your strongest/weakest signal is comming from..
I tried it on my cascadia when i had ant on the back between cab and trailer..All my transmit was to my left or right between trl and trk cab..Almost nothing on the meter out front and i didnt bother to see rear..

    darthanubis Thanks this.

Sham3r, you may want to upgrade to a least a 5ft antenna it should improve both tx and rx.

Through Salt Lake City I ran across a local station that helps me figure out how far I was reaching and I was receiving him for about 10 miles however he lost me around 8 miles and that was both coming towards and going away from the station. It is possible that his antenna strength was drawling my signal to him DOS allowing me to reach a little further

    darthanubis Thanks this.
