Sound like you have fun. I'd like to start having some fun. Sounds like you've spent some coin as well. But what's a little change? You get get life.

Sorry about the divorce. Glad you still enjoy yourself. I appreciate your input across multiple forums online. On the path to duplicating some of them.

really you going to make me cut and paste = that's a lot of work. :)

I know where Drums is, north of hazelton and I've never had an 80 mile straight shot on 11 or 10 meters from there.

The last time I was there, the best I did with any "non-skip" contact was 40 miles on 10 meters with 150 watts going into a portable NVIS antenna and the other guy was a fixed location.

I'm leaning towards you having a NVIS moment with that contact, because I don't think tropo ducting happens that low frequency.

I was sitting in a lawn chair near a military NVIS antenna talking into my little cheap kenwood on 10.

Here is the antenna I was using. Results duplicated with 99 Tahoe and same antenna.[IMG]
Here is my current antenna and vehicle. Results duplicated from this vehicle as well. [IMG] The new vehicle is even better because it's omnidirectional and I can talk to the New York state line off Interstate 84 as well as Interstate 81 as well as the New Jersey state line off of Interstate 80 at the same time that I talk to Harrisburg down at Exit 77 off 81 and the furthest I've talked from drums is mile marker 199 off of Interstate 80 out to the West which covers about a quarter of the state of Pennsylvania from a single location .
