IC is pretty standard as meaning Independent Contractor across all the trades. Independent Carrier doesn't make sense. You're either a Motor Carrier or your not.

Yes, I've always understood it as IC = Independent Contractor. I will be contracted to provide equipment and driver services (aka drive my truck) for my carrier. I will also be free to contract with whomever, just can't use same truck with different carriers. That means I can have multiple trucks running independent of this carrier.

I'd run out and buy a "top of the line " 8 or 10 axle heavy haul Big Trucking rig..... Then just watch the money roll in.....

I haul fuel super B I have five compartments. I load for 1-3 places each load. But it does not matter to me. I get paid for every mile i turn, empty, full or half full makes no difference to me. I run 5/14's and have Saturday and Sunday's off. Everyday I drive I make around 1500$. And about 500$ goes to fuel. My costs are high as well. Insurance is over 12000$ a year service every week. Oil change every six weeks.

It can be done. According to most folks I talk to I am an anomaly however.
