Welcome to the world of owing your soul to whoever gives you your cdl. Very wise to visit a third party school, get them to train you, hire on at Roehl and have them steady payback the school. If you quit before hand you wouldn't owe anything except what's left to the school.

LOL. I think they write it like that these days because so many people don't last at their first gig so when they slap it on your credit report and take you to court they have documentation any idiot could understand. Or they sell it to a third party, eventually you will get served for the 5k debt. 3k or less it usually isn't worth their time to go get you judgemented in court. Either way, sketchy stuff.

Nothing in there about if they drop you down to no miles given. They could do that to force you to quit instead of terminating. No protection for the driver in this contract. This is a one-way deal, and it is to Roehl's benefit.

I will say that if you keep your left door shut and your right foot in the right pedal the miles will come and you will see a nice paycheck.

Yes, the contract sucks. No, it is not prorated and that sucks worse. But, I will say that if I didn't have that 3K hanging over my head I might have walked in the first 6 months and not stuck it out. Now almost a year into it, my contractual obligation is long over. Miles are good and life is good. They train you well. They support you well. And I am happy.

So I was getting about 1000 miles a week now. I have been with Roehl for 8 months solo, after training. I have 60,000 miles(loaded miles) into the 120k contract. They have made my life miserable. I was forced out. I couldn't pay my bills. I raised concern and my dispatcher made me suffer more. I left yesterday, they stopped and took last week's check in its entirety and is are taking next week's too. I even paid out of pocket for some things and was to be repaid on this check. I tried to give my notice aND they kicked me out of my truck and left me on the curb in Indiana with no way home and no money. I'm not disputing that I owe but taking two checks totalling $800, every penny and leaving me with no way home is a bit excessive.

Did you have an incidents in your 8 months accidents or late appointments? How often were you getting 1,000 mile weeks?

Well you made it pretty long after being in the process of being fired in December?

That's concerning... Roehl was on the top of the list for me to sign my life away to get the CDL... if I can't consistently send home $600-$700 a week

That's a real problem for me, and like everyone said... the system is geared towards at least having 1 year OTR experience otherwise you still gonna have a hard time getting a job

    So frustrating

So much for employment at will. This is indentured servitude.

It's 15 months... Not forever. There is more to some of these stories than what we see here on the chat forum. That place tested my nerves plenty of times. I lucked out when I left before my 120,000 miles were met they pro-rated my expense to be paid back. I only paid around 2500 instead of the 4500 maybe my numbers are off a bit, but i didn't have to pay the full amount. Now mind you it was 2010 so I'm sure things change. My point is that if this is the only way you can find to get that CDL and make some money then go for it. Do what you need to do and stay the time needed. Then apply everywhere and take that year plus of experience onward. Good luck drivers...
