Hey everyone! Im new to truckersreport i really like this site and the forums have been really a good read. Anyways I have a few questions regarding my MVR and what exactly is the best route to go to get into trucking! (Ive always wanted to really do this).

I am now a 24 year old male, with NO CDL EXPERIENCE . and when i was younger i was not the smartest lads as far as driving was concerned. I look back at it all now and im very ashamed of how I took no respect for the laws.

Below Im going to put my passed 5 years of driving history than passed 3 years.

    5 years:
01/02/2015 failure to obey highway sign
    4/01/2014 Reckls Drv-improper control
    4/15/2014 suspension 6 month
    3/06/2014 not at fault accident
    8/28/2013 speeding 20mph or above
    6/05/2013 speeding 15-19 above

    3 years:
1/02/2015 failure to oney highway sign
    4/01/2014 Reckls Drv-improper control
    4/15/2014 suspension 6 month
    3/06/2014 not at fault accident

Im reality i know my mvr is bad. It is my dream to get into trucking and be an adult now that im older with driving. How can i start in trucking successfully? Or until when will i need to wait for some tickets to drop off? Thanks so much for the replys anyone

Just wait a year till the you only have 1 showing on your 3 year record, and you'll have a good chance. Right now your insurance rates would be so high I don't think a carrier would be willing to hire you.

Man. You might have to wait a year. They usually only look 3 years. Those 3 from 2014 fall off april 2017. Then you would be golden. Call a few companies. Tell them the truth see what they say.

Truck driving schools probably won't let you enroll unless you have a pre-hire letter from a company willing to hire you at graduation. Only one I know of that might consider you is Carolina Cargo. As easy as this company is, it's still unlikely, but you can try.
Otherwise, just going to have to wait it out until that record is cleaned a little.

Depending upon the company that you are applying to for a job, the time span could range from 3 years to 10 years. You need to call some companies and find out for sure.

In the mean time, clean up your MVR and get a decent work history in case you have to wait a few plus years.

Good luck to you! God bless you and your family!

With the dates you posted, ALL of those in your "5 year" are less than 3 years old. Those 2 overspeed tickets will hurt you in this business. Still doable though. Just have to find the right willing company.

Get a job at a local trucking company that has it's own docks, working on the docks slugging freight, loading trucks. You'll learn a lot just being around the trucks. Then work your way up into running the yard tractors, spotting trailers. You'll get real good at backing up.
All the while get your CDL on the weekends so that once a few more of those incidences on your license drop off you'll be in a position to move forward.

A lot of companies have a lease purchase program. Ive never found one that you can actually make a lot of money at but sometimes they will overlook the tickets because you are the one that will be paying your own insurance premiums. The best way though is to just get your record clean and keep it that way.
