Had two of my guys delivering some scaffolding at a Reefer place which is busy. According to a company driver, they are demanding a extra pay to Drop off a trailer while loading and off loading. And his company is not the only one that drivers are complaining to their companies. It's incredible to think that opening doors and dropping the trailer for "safety" because idiots ruins it for everyone, is so much work. Anyone heard of this?

Wow, no I drop tri's all the time, sometimes like for retail stores. Pull into parking lot, drop ld'd trl, hook to mty in dock, pull it out, drop it, hook to ld'd trl, drop it in dock, then hook to mty. Its a hassle for sure, but its what the job requires.

I think a lot of newbies don't know how much of trucking work is really done out here for free. They mistakenly think there's a sense of fairness that we should be compensated for if not all, then some of the actual work we do.

Boy! Have they got a hard lesson to learn, when it comes to what we do, and what they don't pay for us to do it.

Not everyone works for free. good for anyone these days that doesn't just roll over and except that since drivers have been getting screwed they should keep getting screwed

I guess I'm the dummy. I drop probably 1 out 4, to be loaded or unloaded. Usually its loaded more often than being unloaded. Usually its at some GIANT distribution center. I'm just happy I get a door, and get my thing done so I can be on my way.
There is a flour mill near Denver that is the biggest flour mill I've ever seen. You don't even speak to anyone, you fill out the load request, and put it through a slot on the door. If your information is not correct, if you are one second late, you truly F'd up. There are a few rigs in the holding area with skeletons holding the steering wheels.

image.jpeg 2017 miles a week average. I only get .44 cpm but I get paid for every stop and fairly decently for any detention. It brings the cpm up to .6775 and that's only out 3 or 4 nights a week max. What's pathetic is I was making that 8 years ago here. Pay has gone up but the work is slow and the regulations have taken a toll. People need to expect more!

That's the 14th week this year

One thing I learn a long time ago when we did intermodal, is not to touch or move another company trailer or container out the door or to another door. Because if something goes wrong, you are responsible. That I totally understand, but dropping your own trailer to load or off load at the door, it's sorta pushing it.

This is in the flatbed section.... No whining allowed... :p

I dropped the same trailer 3 times today to get the load on there to offload and at the end of the day. That does not even count the stepdeck that I was still hooked to from last night. Oh and I had to WALK over to the excavator and drive it out of the yard myself.
