One definition used by the US EPA in heavy-duty engine regulations is based on the engine cycle rather than the ignition mechanism, with the presence of a throttle as an indicator to distinguish between diesel-cycle and otto-cycle operation. Regulating power by controlling the fuel supply in lieu of a throttle corresponds with lean combustion and diesel-cycle operation.

$5k for all six injectors sounds about right for a cat shop , $130 hr for labor ! You can get it done a lot less expensive if you have the luxury of shopping around for good prices rather than One going down on you in the middle of nowhere ....LOL ! Of course there is the warranty aspect to consider also !!!Derailed Thanks this.

I'm happy for you , you are lucky that they don't mess with your ecm or could it be that they flash it anyway without your knowledge ...just sayin !

Maybe it depends on the shop. Ive heard about some of the horror stories with some and then others like the one I spoke with who seem reasonable. I told them up front lets cut to the chase and they still wanted to do business

My local CAT won't mess with my ECM. I tell them don't mess with it and they have always been cool not to. Been talking to the same people there over 6 years now.
My Dodge dealer on the other hand were a bunch of liars. Had a faulty injector harness replaced on my 5.9L Cummins. Yeah I had a hot tune in it and I should have known better. They flashed right over it. I misplaced/lost the tuner years ago so no going back without spending a few hundred. They swore up and down they didn't re-flash my ECM. I asked them where did all my power go and why doesn't it belch black clouds of smoke anymore? I also asked them why the fast idle feature was disabled?..... ....they continued to lie and said they didn't. I've bought 2 vehicles from there and told them I would never buy another one. Auto dealers WILL always flash over...Derailed Thanks this. -
Not king of the hill or george! Hell I would do it myself first. I dont trust milton, they are just in it for themselves. If you can watch, MAYBE. How about commercial or don up at northern truck repair? Stop there personally and tell him you want personal attention to make sure your tune does not get screwed up.

Haven't seen you on in awhile, thought maybe you hit the powerball. I figured you would know who i was talking about. Never dealt with Northern. Maybe I'll stop in and talk to them. There up off 149 iirc?
Cetane+ Thanks this. -
Yea east of lake George on the way to rt4. Don used to run the loggers equipment service department since waaaay back, before they closed/ sold out. Sold the WS, and gave up the long haul. Back to hanging out at home cutting wood here on the farm. Much easier, No cops. Good luck
