so tell us how the LEO came to the conclusion you have an ELD? Was in the way you described how you logged?

also note, an ELD or AOBRD will allow certain adjustments to your logs, but you cannot shorten drive hours.

 

I suspect the LEO asked him if it was an ELD they were using and they said yes....

Its easy, an eld or aobr receives info from the ecm, fits not connected , to ecm, its not eld. Or aobr

 

Mark, that's not correct, fax email is option for eld. Or aobr, not apps. If officer accepts a fax ,email for an app you are lucky. With an app you have to have ability to print

 

Do you have the reg that supports only fax/E-Mail for only ELD/AOBR and not apps?

 

mark, someone posted a guidance i will try to find it again, but posted here was the guidance, which reads the same. thats a commone confusion, just as folkd confuse eld and apps, the fax email is the option for eld aobr. the guidance for apps is very specific, if you can electronically sign , you have to have the ability to print upon demand, and if you cant electronically sign , you must print and sign each day. some also think they have to give you time to copy to paper long, thats not correct, if someone allows that, they are being kind, same with email or fax from an app log program.

mark, a concession isnt necessary. the confusion actually is helped along by dot quite often not knowing the exact rules, and cutting guys some slack. and even companies using log apps telling the can fax or email. its actually kind of silly to allow fax or email . its like elctronic signatures took 3 years to be approved , even though according standard federal law electronic signatures are perfectly legal for quite some time in all aspects of commerce , court documents etc. but not for a logbook until july 2014. another government idiocy. also i have using a eclipse program since 2011 and in being checked for logs in several inspections had made it a point to know the deal
