A warning on an inspection is the same as a ticket on an inspection. When you pull your PSP it's going to be on there. Like one of the earlier posts said, you were also very lucky the officer didn't dig deeper, any number of things would've been discovered. Also, you need to make sure you're buddy signs and returns the inspection form promptly, I think there is only a 30 day window, or your troubles have only begun
tsavory Thanks this. -
You don't have a fine for a warning, but they definitely are listed on your PSP report at FMCSA. I know. And "ruin" is a little strong, Jackal. No one wants negative entries on their records, but one warning isn't going to sink the ship.
You messed up a bit, Gumisien, move on and be thankful it wasn't any worse.
What road is it that's paved with "good intent?" You were driving down that road. Good motive, sad result. -
Clarification of terms:
- Violation - a defect found during an inspection - noted on a DOT inspection report.
- Warning - what a defect on a DOT inspection is if you were not issued a traffic citation (ticket) for it.
- Ticket - what is sometimes issued for a defect on a DOT inspection.
-
And all get a noted on a DOT inspection and hurt the drivers PSP. Some hurt carrier's CSA as well. Once it is in writing it goes against the driver.
