Hello everyone. I was approved to come on board Schneider's Choice program. I'm ready to get started and put in my 2 week notice at my current job, but having some issues finding a truck through SFI. There are tractors available, but they all have the battery powered APU called ClimaCab. Personally, I would rather have a diesel powered APU like the Tripac. I just can't see the battery powered APU handling the load of an A/C cooling the cab & other devices running. I can see needing to get up every 6 hours to idle the main engine to charge the batteries. NOT GOOD!!!
Does anybody have any experience with the battery powered APU called ClimaCab?
Thanks...

Yes , my last truck had a Clima Cab
Clima Cab simply cannot handle high or extreme outside temps -
ClimaCab I had, was not designed to provide ANY KIND of in cab power.
Heating and Cooling only.
It did have a button you could press to discharge the ClimaCab and charge the Truck batteries in case it would not start. -
You'll to find a older truck with a tripack or get kw t680. But you'll need to put 5k down in it

Parksmart (freightliner or western star)or climacab (cummins) are not battery APU's. There solely for HVAC reducing or eliminating the need for idle time.
external diesel fired power units or battery powered units provide 120 v POWER and HVAC capabilites without idle. -

TennMan Thanks this.

does anyone know of a tech that knows anything about these units?
I have a 1.5 and its acting up, took it to a Cummins dealer down south (they won't even look at it in Canada), and they just want to replace everything, with no assurance it will work.
I need to talk to someone that actually knows how to repair it!
Any and all advice accepted.
Can't even find a forum for these. -
also if anyone knows of one for sale, new or used, I am interested
