I drove through lane where you get those "tickets" to pay in cash. Keep in mind, I have EasyPass installed on the car. I got to the second booth and entered one of those "cash + easyPass" lanes. The lady there mentioned that I had easypass on my car, I still said "I wanted to pay in cash, as I was unsure about the funds on the account" and so I did.
But since I had easypass, how do I know I wont get charged/registered by passing through those easypass things? is there a button that the operator presses to choose whether you HAVE easypass?
Happened in NJ. I did not think ahead, maybe someone can help me understand.

The light will turn green when toll is paid

Yes but there are more then one form of payment. If there is not a process that the operator must do in order to dismiss the easypass, then I got charged twice?
-
I'd be willing to bet you paid twice
roshea, Longarm, flood and 1 other person Thank this. -
ah well.... I appreciate the honesty. But Im also interested in the actual mechanics here as well. I know its not a pressing issue!

Next time you plan on paying cash, remove the transponder from the window and put it under the seat to make sure it doesn't get a read.
-
It will still pick up the transponder under the seat. You literally have to wrap it in foil or get one of the pouches designed to block the signal.

I figured! that is tricky. Reminds me that there are a couple CVS stores I shop at and whenever I buy things with those strips, the alarm goes off. I even have came back in and watched the lady de-magnetize the items a second time! no dice. Still went off on me.

Your easy pass should be setup with an auto refill system when your level of money falls under a set amount.
-
You missed the point though. Im asking if I choose to pay with cash while having Ezpass on my car will the EZpass charge me TOO. I paid in cash, in a "ezpass + cash lane" , how does Ezpass know whether to charge me then? does it detect that I paid in cash and not charge me
