Jrivas23, Sounds like you are a good hard working man.
I plan on doing the same cdl training and don't need much home time at all.
How much did you make in your first year?
Weekly checks 0-6 months and 6-12 months?
Want to see if I could get close to $50k

I have been an O/O since late SEP15 with Roehl. Bought a tractor from outside to bring in with me. Has varying rates for payment and different options. I average around 9000 miles per month but it would be more if I did not have my National Guard commitement.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

Hard to do that in the first year because your CPM rate starts off low. You can get on track to average 50k per year after you get in 9 months or so. Also depends on how long you want to be out and fleet.

Update on starting pay from the Roehl jobs site.

"Starting pay for inexperienced drivers in our National Primary Commercial Zone: Flatbed Fleet is now $0.41 per mile; Refrigerated Fleet is now $0.37 per mile; Van Fleet is now $0.35 per mile!"

This is a 3 cpm boost from when I started last FEB as a solo driver. FYI

My first 6 mos made around 18.5K
Remaining 6 made close to 20K give or take.

But remember, I was home pretty much every weekend. If you dont need so much the home time, and you run the road with discipline you could make more than that in your first year.

Many things will come in play, for example: starting pay at the company you go with, planners and dispatchers keeping you moving, weather events, but the main key is the way you run it.

Are they good to jump on board with your own tractor as an owner Op?

Depends on what you are used to and run along with where you live and run. It is a $1 + FSC carrier with more CPM for shorter runs, along with having a percentage choice in flatbed. They have a load choice board for van drivers. I have done more live load/unload than I would have expected but average good miles when I am out.

My recommendation would be to check out the Roehl Jobs site and see what fleets they offer where you live. I have only gone through RI a few times to get to MA but we have some NE drivers up there. I have run a lot of PA.
