Hermann Transportation is the best company I ever worked for, for many different reasons,
They are a Family Owned Business,( the Hermanns) for over 80 years. the owners treat all of the employees including us drivers like family.
Pay and Benefits : Great Pay, and Great Benefits. and more.
Equipment : New Tractors, Volvos and Freightliners, and New Trailers, They have a superior Maintance Dept.
I am a OTR Driver,I go thru State Scales and DOT Inspection worry fee, knowing that am driving a Passable Equipment.
Dispatchers,: Great People, They Understand us drivers and our needs, and when you request home time they will get u home what matter what. no questions asked or any buts.
Freight... Dry Freight, FAK. mostly all drop n hooks so theres no waiting. and if you have to wait. they pay you waiting time.
ELogs !!!! Well by 2017 everyone will have to use it. I am a oldtimer driver never used elogs, now I have learned and use elogs ! I love it, cant live with out it, !!! . I will never go back to paper !.
Safety : at Hermann Transportaion. Safety is # 1. Period.
In all Hermann is the best fleet around...

The companies are telling you everyone will be on elogs. but I do believe drivers are dying over elogs.when a computer is telling you how to drive and not giving drivers the opportunity to take a nap it's scary.at least with paper you can tear out the page and start over

Whoever told you EVERYONE will have to use ELDs lied to you.

"3. Exemptions—Two optional exceptions are added from the required use of ELDs: (1) Driveaway-towaway operations are not required to use an ELD, provided the vehicle driven is part of the shipment; and (2) ELDs are not required on CMVs older than model year 2000."

It's also acceptable to use smartphone apps as an alternative as well.

"The ELD Final Rule permits the use of smart phones and other wireless devices as ELDs, so long as they satisfy technical specifications, are certified, and are listed on an FMCSA website. Canadian- and Mexican-domiciled drivers will also be required to use ELDs when operating on U.S. roadways."
