So I went in to take a shower, and when I came out, I noticed some paint transfer on my right bumper and a scuff on the headlight. Looks like some ####### tried to blindside in the spot next to me and bumped me. I was able to get the paint transfer off and there is only a little scratch left and the scuff on the headlight. They also pushed the bumper in a little.
My question is how can I realign that bumper. It's the 3 piece bumper so the end cap can be manipulated. Nothing looks off or tweaked compared to the other side and I tried to loosen a couple of the bolts in there, but the bumper wouldn't budge. Any suggestions?

Wrap a chain around it, padded with something strong, chain it off on a bollard? Get an observer if you try this. It worked for me on a mudflap bracket, and I pulled a bumper out for a driver in the wilds of Idaho once. Best.
I had a hit and run jerkoff damage my right side rear fairing and bend my step down about 4", then left. Walmart in Laredo, the one close to I-35. What a pain. I'm going down to Big Rig Paint in Houston next week and get a few items freshened up, including that hit and run damage. My truck is starting to look a little ragged. -
I would do what the other guy said on here but use your car. Wrap one of those straps they use to hold down flatbed loads or use a rope not a chain and hook it to your car. And watch your progress while pulling. A few small yanks will straighten her up but make sure you dont over do it.

Scratch that its plastic with a metal bracket. Your best bet is to take it off and straighten the bracket.

My suggestion is to get the management to pull any surveillance camera footage.....
KB3MMX, TequilaSunrise, baha and 1 other person Thank this. -
@flightwatch
how many bolts did you loosen?
do you now have a bigger gap between the end piece and the middle piece?
Have you tried to loosen both the middle and end piece?
ps using a chain and pulling is the very last resort which i wouldn't advise.
A strap ratchet will give you much more control.flightwatch Thanks this. -

Worse case scenario, it's better to buy a new bracket, depending on which one needs to be replaced, anywhere from $68 for the larger bracket and $90 dollars for the smaller one.
If you try to straighten it out yourself using a chain or strap there's a good chance you might wind up bending something else too.Last edited: Apr 16, 2016

There isn't enough damage,if any,to the bracket to replace it.
Looking at the pictures, there's enough play on the bolts to put it back where it belongs.
Just needs to be persued in a controlled way.
I recently had to install a new bumper after a driver ran a stopsign.
Rightside was gone.
Leftside ,all the brackets were ok.
Installed new bumper with new brackets.
Leftside alligned perfectly,right didn't.
Loosen all bolts on rightside, put a jack with woodblock under rightside,in the correct spot, jacked it up,tightend all bolts.................ligned up perfectly.
