I'm going to orientation on Monday. I'm hoping this company is a right fit for my family and I.

hey guys, been following this thread for a while. I know from reading that you guys run I-81 a lot...I'm assuming living near Scranton, PA I would be in a good freight land area? Also, being that you run dry ban, do you have a high percentage of drop/hook freight or still a lot of live load/unload? Do you get paid detention/layover pay?
One other question, how does the ESOP work and approximately how much does it contribute towards retirement annually? Is it something that could actually provide a good retirement or just kind of a little something extra? -
I have found 60% drop and hook...
Detention after 2 hrs but rarely have it...
ESOP is a little difficult to explain but you are actually given stock which will fluctuate with the price but over time can be a nice supplement..we also have 401kmxpx148 Thanks this. -
Day 1 of orientation is in the books. Our class consists of nine drivers and orientation is the general paperwork, videos, safety, drug test, and road test that most companies adhere to. We test drove in 8 speed volvos which surprised me a bit since I've been accustomed to 9 and 10 speeds, but that was only a change in thought process. Everything that I've heard and seen about Big G seems to hold true so far. Tomorrow we get our trucks and start rolling!!!

They are all 8 speeds until you get to the newer trucks then go to 10 speeds

well its been 5 months with crst. Next month I get the big money raise up to 33 cpm. All in all its ok, we have had a couple of long 3000 mile runs taken away. But only on the weekend when our DM was out. But I have a good codriver now so I'll keep on truckin till I hit the one year mark. I'll be calling BIG G then. Have a good year drivers and thanks TOW for all the advice.
