Don't forget a trusty porn mag to hold that log book, and works out great for down time.....................

You could use the free app Bigroad on a smart phone. I drive local and log things as i do it. If I go over 12 hours/more than 100 air miles out I have everything filled out when I finish. I do not have to guess as to what times I stopped. At the end of my day where the exemption is not in place, I email my log to the appropriate person.

This is what the employer has us using...

Have never had any problems, have been D.O.T'd before and they dont say a single thing. If I know for that DAY that I am going outside 100 air miles, i use a logbook then staple it to my weekly time sheet and put for that particular date "Outside 100 Air miles, logbook attached".

Never had any problems at all.

If you consistantly run past 100 miles, but come home each night, but park the truck,at the employer, how would you log the 12-14 hours off duty, with no sleeper berth?
    Example,start 6am,end day at 4pm,go home,and start again,at 6 am..five day work week.
    Thanks

the exemption says you will start at the 'normal work reporting location AND return within 12 consecutive hours and be relieved from duty at the 'normal work reporting location'...taking a unit home makes it on duty and you need to run a RODS.....

I do logs at my current company. I've never been out past the 100 AIR miles. But they have one guy who takes slightly longer huals so they have us do it. Whatever. They're elogs so it's really easy. Never had a cop even ask for my logs though in my eight years driving.
