Here!! Here!!! Fuel, maintenance,insurance, taxes,heavy use road tax.(2290) I think they call it. Not sure,God forbid tow bills,am I scaring you yet?, blow a tire even used with a road call $400-$600 reefer fuel if your company requires you to pay.I could go on and on.....Nah I'll keep my company truck.if you have the money in savings for all that you don't need to flease a truck.

 

I could only see doing that for an event or to sell a house. I went into one rent a center one day. They had a TV that I could buy brand new for $1000 at the time. After I did some mental math I figured they'd charge about $3000 for that same TV. Why not just save your money or use credit if you want something. I also like to use a two week rule for big purchases. If I still want something after two weeks then I buy it. Never had buyers remose doing it that way.

 

The work to get a really good job is be a fraction of the work to start a business. If I wanted to make big money I would go with a union ready mix company. You start off with very few hours and get thrown around to all the different yards. But it's $32-36 an hour and after a few years, if they like you, you'll be at one yard and have it made in the shade. Hell operators Union is up to $40/hr I think. Overtime after 8. Probably another $10-20 an hour worth of benefits and a pension. You'd have to do very well to make that much consistently running a single truck company.

 

Or save up your money, do your due diligence, and buy your truck outright. There are many way to do everything. It's just some work better for certain people and their situations.

 

You said it right there, Brother. Everyone has a different situation, it's up to that individual to decide what works best for them.

Operators union here in Chicago is at $48 per hour... I've been on the list 6 years now still haven't gotten the call...
