There's a difference between making money and making a profit. Lets just analyze the facts you presented.
1. you got your cdl less than a year ago.
2 you're working with a broker , I bet he knows your new to ?
So what ever you're getting you're probably being screwed as they do that to all new carriers.
The one bright spot is in another year you want have to ask.
operating cost per mile

Yes profit. Thats what I was getting at I rather figure out if I'm getting low rates now then a year down the road cause that's profits lost

I always heard "bought sense" is the best sense.
I met a driver a couple weeks ago he told me he made 35 or 36 cents A mile and his pay was 1500 a week
Now tell me how thats possible ? He drives for an elog company. -
Every lane pays different ...there is no 'set rate per mile' ...it differs load by load ...
Example, you can get paid well to take a load to the north east. God help you getting something steadily decent from there to any points west or south. Same thing applies with most freight lanes. Good one way not so good the other way. The key is knowing how to capitalize on the high demand lane but also know you will have to settle for less on the return. And never buy into the broker bs "I have a round trip, outbound pays this inbound pays this"... you get a mediocre outbound and inbound load disappears and you are left holding the bag.BrandonA24 Thanks this. -
Ok, so what are you getting for rates?

I'm confused, you are asking something you needed to know before you got the truck?
Sorry if you think this is trash but when crap happens and you don't have a clue what is going out, you won't have the truck much longer. -
I'm making on average .67 cents a mile after fuel, insurance, maintenance.
Was wonder if that was good or not. -
In 2001 close to 0.70 cents clear from a carrier was pretty common. Now 15 years later with trucks costing 50 % more, fuel double, shop rates 2.5 times higher the carriers seem to think that clearing 75 cents is a good rate.

So I'm doing alright then considering my insurance is sky high cause I'm a new driver.
