That is pricing for intrastate plates, not IRP.
I run Landstar's plate simply because it is the same or less than running my own FL IRP, and I don't have to do any work. The other advantage for me is if I buy new equipment. IL, and now IN, is where LS plates come from, and they don't charge sales tax on trucks and trailers, while Florida charges 6% on the purchase price.
Now if Landstar was NOT the same price charged me more, or if I was seriously contemplating reactivating my authority, I'd get my own plate again.

I got my own plate for the freedom to do as I wish with my own truck. I'm leased on with a good gig but if things change I want to be able to BOUNCE! No one can hold me hostage!!!! Cost me almost $2500 but will be less in the future years.

Do they have any exemptions for the sales tax? Iowa has one that says if 25% or more of your miles are traveled out of state you are exempt from paying sales tax.

NOPE! When I had my authority I tagged my trailers in Maine, but had to pay tax on the trucks.

Has anyone gotten plates in Washington state? I'm getting my authority but need to finish up a few trips before I'm ready to run my numbers and need to go a few states over to pick up my trailer.

CT you don't pay sales tax if you're leased to a motor carrier.

A lot of the northern states consider trucking a utility and don't charge sales tax, but not FL.
