Yes Nevada as well as Georgia you need to have amber light permits to use strobe lights

 

I wish I could hang these everywhere...

 

Those beacons are required equipment in Alaska, and the permit stipulates usage.

 

Do you have to have a permit to have them mounted or just to use them when oversize?

 

It's my understanding that you need to have the permits even if they are not in use. That's just what i was told.

 

The Amber lights mounted by the brake light are not legal in all states that require lights, they are not visible from the side. Florida will pop you and make you get a proper light before they let you go.

 

I have strobes mounted on top of my mirrors and no one has ever said a word. I use them for over size loads as well as the battery operated LEDs on my trailer for states that allow running after dark with strobes.

Next truck I want to get the LEDs for the grill and top rear of the sleeper as well as strobes for my trailer like the RGNs have in the rear.

I put them on the mirror because that was the cheapest route to go at the time. $175 for each strobe plus wiring and $4 toggle switch in my dash.

LEDs are pricey,.. but much more visable than the strobes I have.

My pal runs a w900 10 wheeler...He added strobes to his cab marker housings, programmable, brighter than ever...I believe its adding another receptacle so you maintain intended function...
Same guy has a siren too...He gets us all with it..One little "whoop!!" and Im droppin the phone, foot off the gas, hands at 10 and 2 etc etc...Ironically, everyone else too!!
A very effective method to generate awareness of presence...

I like the electric ambulance horn too...waaant!!!waaamt!!!

 

Theres subwoof ground rumbler sirens too, supposedly you can make someone sick with it, even with stereo cranked, a 4 wheeler will feel you comin, or nearby
