Oh and, one of the A/C lines is leaking a bit. Pulled it off and took it to Napa to have them build a new one. Will reinstall the new one later after I get back.

You may also need to replace the dryer before you attempt recharging it.Road Killer and Tug Toy Thank this. -
Excellent thread. Those of us that run older equipment know the satisfaction you feel. You can park next to a bran new 2016 and know it pulls in the same revenue.
In a few years you will have had your hands on most every part of your truck. A truck does not wear out it just needs maintained and taken care of.singlescrewshaker, tommymonza, Ruthless and 3 others Thank this. -
So far I like the tinkering. Now if I can just get over the feeling not making any money while I'm working on it!
I figure I have saved at least $4500 in labor charges so far. I probably would have not done a lot of the little repairs I have don had I not been able to do them myself.
Some of the small parts are difficult and expensive to find. Like the cubbies above the windshield and the shifter boot. $390 for just the plastic ring!!!
I keep a list of things that NEED to be done and a list of WANTS and just work on them with priority.
I generate just as much or more revenue as our company trucks every week so far. An finding my own coustemers and am usually home every weekend and once though the week. Although I usualy work on my truck every Saturday. My wife is a mail lady so she works monday throug Saturday every week anyway.singlescrewshaker, Road Killer and Grijon Thank this. -
Subscribed, that's very close to what I plan to buy, when the time is right.

Got her all Instaled. I need 4 screws for the control panel. I put it in where the ashtray in the sleeper was. Only had to trim just a bit and it slid right in. I want to get the generator mounted in a tool box on glides. That way I can open the doors and slide it out like a drawer to fuel and maintain. I got a room A/C unit and a small room heater. Instaled a dorm fridge and micro I had laying around. With the cab closed up I fired the gen and I would say it is quieter than the truck running. I have parked next to a few with APU's and I think it's quieter than an APU on the next truck over? I will try and park away from others or next to refers to try not to piss anyone off though. Supost to only be 68db and seems Relitivly quiet even out at the shop where there is no noise at all.
Thanks for looking. Jsinglescrewshaker, Ruthless, Road Killer and 1 other person Thank this. -
Don't forget the most important piece of equipment A good carbon monoxide detector with a peak ppm memory.. It's gone off on me with a APU in the past and also helped me find a exhaust leak on my 2015 t680 that 2 shops swear wasn't there until I show them readings off my first alert

Uh oh!!!
Noticed a drip early in the week. I have been watching it but this morning it's getting bad. Took a load from Ohio to nebraska to pick up from what I thought was a good coustemer. They canceled the load on us because some one took it for $600 instead my $1000. Rate. Now nothing but crap off the board over here. Going to dead head to the barn and start looking into this. I can't really see where it's coming from unless I pull a bunch of stuff off the motor.Last edited: May 20, 2016
