Really, where was the Adverse Driving Conditions rule sited in this thread?
All the discussion I seen was on the Safe Haven rule that only applies to Hasmat loads.

E-Logs or paper, parking is a problem. More specially E-Logs make parking no more of a problem. We have flexibility with E-Logs and can manage our clocks. Albeit, we can not alter driving time we can manage our clocks and hours of service. HOS regulations need to be changed which I believe will happen in a good way I do not however believe E-LOGs will become mandatory, DOT is already throwing in the towel on some issues and ultimately have no choice but to do the same on mandatory E-Logs.

@Breaker-one-nine
You need to factor in the drivers taking 5 or 6 hour breaks. On paper logs, one parking spot in a truckstop will provide 2 drivers their "10 hour break".
The drivers that nap for a couple of hours all day and night tend to park on on ramps or rest areas. When these drivers are forced to take a 10 hour break, they'll be in a truckstop for the first time.
Parking will be a nightmareShooterK2, Peter Griffin and scottied67 Thank this. -
Everything must be drop and hook , plus you must be home every week for a reset.
Who do you drive for?Bean Jr. and Peter Griffin Thank this. -
Don't see how it will create more parking.
If I'm ready to go but will arrive early for my appt. I go and try to get loaded/unloaded early. With elogs I'll be hanging out at that truck stop and leaving just in time for my appointment.
I keep my schedule as regular as I can and if anyone thinks the elog is going to make my start a few hours earlier each day due to my 10 being up they're nuts.
There will be an adjustment period but how I run, and how much I run, will hardly change. Like mentioned though, I may spend a bit more time at the truck stop which will have the opposite affect of creating more parking. -

2 things need to happen:
Number 1: Shippers and receivers (Talking to you Wal Mart DC's) are going to HAVE to open their facilities up to allowing drivers the ability to take their breaks on or next to their property. Especially if they are the type of outfit that likes to have way overpriced lumper services that take 8 hours to unload 2 pallets.
Number 2: This new "pay to park" phenomenon needs to stop. These truck stops already rip us off for everything from food to laundry. Now they want to charge us $15/night to park. Ok if they want to take 5 or 10 of the best spots, but some of these TA's/Petros and Pilots are taking upwards of 50% of the available parking and making you pay for it. This is completely wrong on so many levels. I, for one, will NEVER pay to park in a trashed out parking lot that smells like piss...and if you do, then you're a sucker.Peter Griffin and Straight Stacks Thank this. -
I may run a couple hours later one day or start a couple hours earlier another day but that's about it.Peter Griffin and tucker Thank this. -
