Still want to see where you get the numbers. Not saying 'you're wrong', I just want opinion backed up by FACT that can be found. I just tried to google it, and wasnt able to find jack. Only thing i found was a first quarter report back from 2002 when Swift bought out M.S. Carrier. Report said they went from having 650 empty/idle trucks to 300. but this is 6 years old.

Okay, i see where they have 21,300 drivers, but where do you get your number saying they hire 60,000 drivers in a year?? Now granted, they want as many students going thru class as they can, and those who wash out get stuck with a nice bill. BUT just because you are going to class, doesn't mean you are 'hired'. You aren't considered an employee until you pass the class, get a CDL, and go thru orientation. But seeing how a third of those who go thru their class (and i would think that most new hires come out of class. As a driver who just got their CDL from an outside school, i would think they would go where they could start at 30cpm, etc. Yeah? And I know it isnt Swift.

But they Figure it out by # of empty seats for overall turnover...300% of the drivers there less than 1 year ....so they can replace every driver 3 times a year...
    Its a convoluted formula.....

That page doesn't seem to support any statements made regarding driver turnover. The only thing I can gather from it is that Swift has significantly better results than the national average regarding inspections.

That page doesn't say anything either way about turnover - the 300% is from another source. Swift recruiters, among others

Snowman - MarkGel has it right - though it's not really all that convoluted.

Also, most companies consider you as "hired" when you show up for orientation. If they are schooling you, I would assume that they'd consider you technically an employee when you show up for your first class. Driver turnover, though, counts only seated drivers - not trainees, schoolies, or whatever.

Most companies may be this way but Swifty is not. You are not considered hired by them until they assign you a driver number which usually is on the second day of orientation after passing the background check, physical, drug screen etc.
