At some point between picking up a load and stopping for fuel I had a tire go flat. I cursed the service center and blamed their patch, which, as it turned out, a nail had gone right through their patch. Got it fixed up and headed out. (The tech said million to one odds of that.)
Now I get to my stop, I check all my tires real good, picking out the rocks and eyeballing them closely.
I found three more nails in two of my drive tires! One on the left and two on the right, thrid axle.
Do I leave them in or pull them out? Do I have a service tech do it for me? Never had a nail in any tire of anything that I've driven for over 10 years and now they just pop up like zits on a kids face!
How to handle nails in tires?

Soap them, and see if they are leaking. Let a tech pull them, or pull them yourself when you're parked outside the shop.

If the head of the nail is in a groove you will be ok for a bit.
But follow the above advice to be safe.GiantBeard Thanks this. -

I'm starting to suspect that we need a magnetic rake to clean up pallet debris on the farm.
It doesn't help that the 'burn pile' is in the driveway... Smh... -
Yeah, delivered at a farm one time and they had just graded their lot, including the burn pile. 8 nails from that little adventure......

Go to napa or oriellys and buy a good plug kit. Plug last just fine in nail sized holes. Dont listen to the naysayers. 25-30 buck and 15 mins you can fix several. You do need to cut the plug off flush when you are done so keep a razor blade also. Buy the sturdy tools not the small cheap handled ones. They break pretty easy

I have run tires for months with nails in them, just monitor the air pressure.
I pulled a bolt out the other day, have no idea where it came from.
Lucky me it was in the meat part of the tread.
Always carry a plug kit, easy to use and will save you $$$.Dave_in_AZ, GiantBeard and northernhopper Thank this. -
3 nails for me in the last 2 weeks....One was a 16 penny in a steer tire!
That was 600 bucks for a new steer....not patching that for steering use!
We patched it and saved it for a trailer tire....SLANT6, Pmracing, mrg1 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thanks for all the advice!
Looks like I'm off to buy a plug kit, not the cheap-o brand, and to keep an eye on the tire pressure.
....I'm also going to raise hell about cleaning up the driveway. I found dozens of nails, of the same types in my tires, just within feet of my truck....
They're going to have to move the camp fire somewhere else!
