CRST stay away from this company. They don't care about their drivers. They only care about their bottom line. They have a steady flow of students coming in because they have such a high turnover rate. Also the type of people they hire are careless and not the type of people one would want on the road. They get ten grand a head from the government for each student they pass and then charge the student like eight grand for the training. Then charge them 40 bucks a week for yen months to pay them back. Let's talk about their DMs... Only there for a check. Some are great while others get fired quickly. I've been here a little over a month and have had three different DMs so far. Also haven't broke a thousand dollars yet either. They lie to you on just about every thing your recruiter tells you and they also don't yell you that you have to pay for your own drug test. CRST has made their millions by screwing people over. I am currently looking for another job as I have givin them my two week notice today. I have never quit a job before having another one in place until today. I highly advise everyone to not only stay away, but run from this company. They suck!!!

Suck it up, Rookie. Training companies are supposed to suck. Get your experience with CRST and then move on to greener pastures.

Kinda gonna have to agree with @alghazi on this one. I didn't make my one year with Stevens either but hey, whose to blame here? Me. I see you're kind of on it about DMs. Yeah. Majority of them suck. You really don't need them for anything but to make sure you're paperwork was received. You want a load? Go to dispatch yourself. You're not really gonna break $1,000.00 either. That's the common misconception that all of the rookies fall for. Even If you're a lease op, it isn't guaranteed. Also, it is a well known fact the these companies get $10,000 a student and try to double screw the student. Yeah. I'm one to talk I know. Even with all of the bad comments on this and other websites, I still went to Stevens. The only upside is that I'm currently on my third truck job and getting a far more decent paycheck than I was then. But with the hard work that you may put out there, you can make it. Even with one of the worst companies there is. I lasted about four months and had about $3,000.00+ by the time it was over. Don't feel bad and definitely DON'T give up.

If a company rakes in 10K for a student such as yourself, what do you care? It's not your money. Now I myself take a position that I paid for my own trucking school, got the license my way with the state tests and the med card to go with it. All that is left is to do the company orientation and maybe ride with a trainer a while. That's it.

I don't see 10K per head or whatever flying about. If that is something they are doing enmasse then the USA has a serious problem. We are a bankrupt Nation anyhow. All of that is going to stop one of these days.

As far as DM's if you are not happy with someone find someone else. Im pretty sure there is someone whom you can mesh with well enough with a certain personality that matches yours. Just don't be a whiny, unhappy sad sack moping around the outfit because something is not quite right to suit you. Companies tend to ease unhappy problem people out the door using a number of methods, shorting miles each week is one. You cannot make a living if you cannot clear 50 dollars for the last 8 days after deductions. Not without a decent stash of savings already set aside and a months worth of food and fluids in your sleeper to tide over slow freight times.

If I was a company, I want a driver who is willing to endure lean times, not lay around and whine to complain about it. If there is a problem let's hear it. Otherwise we will see you down the road.

You are correct about CRST receiving subsidy for easy student but how did you find out?I think almost every company receives subsidy. So the students that do quit are only doing the companies a favor. They already have their money from the government.

When you call central dispatch. Pretty much your getting the bottom of the barrel loads. You have to be the Captain of your ship. And build a working relationship with your shippers. And run where the freight is. Ounce I load already touching base with shippers. We don't have load boards here at Kaplan.

CRST kicked me out of orientation, and I only had to pay 1500 for school. Not a bad deal if you ask me.
