They built it at the bottom of a hill. Good luck climbing that after pulling in.

I got pulled into the Cottonwood scale yesterday in California for a paper check. Gave him my license and showed him my BigRoad (app) logs on my 8" tablet.
He looked at the day and day before and handed the tablet back to me, remarking, "those new electronic logs are awesome!" and sent me on my way

I've been passed by CHP a few times when I was doing 65. Not too long ago, I was doing 65 on CA-46 when I saw a CHP sitting just past the end of the left side of the trailer. I slowed down to 55 and he slowed down for a little then kept going. I think they let truckers slide a little, sometimes, unless you're doing something really stupid.
bottomdumpin Thanks this. -
Out in the high desert they do cut you a lot of slack. They'd rather hand out the high dollar ticket to the guy running 95 in a 70 rather than the truck doing 64 in a 55 on the same road.bottomdumpin Thanks this.

I-5 south at the 319 Avenal exit is where a CHP in a white SUV sits on the overpass almost out of view. If you're doing 65 and he's sitting there, you will get ticketed. It's like shooting fish in a pond for that guy right there. Every week I see him writing speeding tickets on big trucks.

When Illinois had the 55 mph truck speed limit statewide, a couple of Illinois State Policemen that we had engaged in conversation pretty much said as much, as long as you weren't doing over 65 (the car speed limit) and running the left lane, they would pretty much let you slide. Plenty of cars running 15+ over to stop.

That's good to know. I didn't know that.

Anymore details on the skirt rules by chance?

For whatever it's worth, I rent a 53' dry van from McKinney. I'm in CA every week. I asked the regional manager for McKinney if the skirt was necessary for a "small fleet" and he told me it absolutely is.
