As of 2007, yes, if it's a misdemeanor, there's a time limit but a felony is a whole other ball game.
You can get pardoned for certain criminal offenses in Canada after a period of time. In Canada, it reads, "Have you ever been convicted for a criminal offense for which no pardon was granted?" Once you've been pardoned, you can say no, you have never been convicted so they have to word it this way in Canada. -
I am in the same situation. My felony is 11 years old and I can not find a TRUCKING JOB EITHER.I got a cdl a permit, but cant find a company that will let me go through their school.I am willing to sign a contract or whatever.

I guess you have to ask yourself what you really want in a job. I have a felony and never had a problem going to work. When talking to recruiter about a possible job ask, do you do can., cali., chicago, nyc., or anywhere you don't care to go to. I don't do any of the said places for personal reasons, for any amount of money. My standards are set higher than that. In other words, go with your standards NOT thiers.

All of this has me scratching my head. I was convicted of felony theft of property in 1994 for computer hacking. I was subsequently fully pardoned (not expunged, I know the difference) by the state of AL in 2007. I travelled into and out of Canada several times in 2006 in a commercial vehicle without incident. Am I special or is it just a matter of time before computer technology catches up with me? Don't get me wrong, my record has kept me from getting many jobs in the trucking industry; especially in the union-infested LTL sector. As far as previous posts are concerned, do not bother with Knight or KLLM as I know that, with a felony, they will turn you around at the door. It's a shame that my MVR/DAC is completely clean for over 10 years, and I have doubles/triples, tanker, and hazmat endorsements and can't seem to get a decent job.
