The owner of the truck was BJ Montgomery. It was a maroon KW. I found his name in a magazine called 10-4. The cover shows the truck but it is grouped in with a bunch of other trucks so not much of the trailer shows (Just the front right corner). Most of the trailer was black and had images of the astronauts and the challenger on each side of the trailer, looking like it was flying through space. Also had "Something Special" written on it. Ive never seen that one above, only the one with the black trailer. Maybe the one I saw was owned by someone else? But it had pics of the Astronauts on the side of the trailer?

Truckers Bring Message Honoring Space Program
Matthew Brady Published: July 23, 1989 Updated: Jul 23, 1989

The 17-ton tractor/trailer rig owned by Bob and B.J. Montgomery is a mobile message to America about the U.S. space program and what it means to them.

Murals on the sides of the cab's sleeper depict the seven astronauts who died in the space shuttle Challenger explosion Jan. 28, 1986. The trailer murals show the space shuttle Discovery's launch 32 months after the Challenger disaster and also the Discovery in flight.

They call the rig their "dollar bill truck" because they scrounged their dollar bills to buy it in 1987. They bought the trailer in December.

In the beginning, Bob said, they just wanted to fix up a nice truck.

A year and a half ago, one of their friends came up with the idea of a salute to the Challenger astronauts.

Their friend volunteered to paint the murals on both the truck and the trailer. Now, Bob said, "The truck has snowballed."

"I'm trying to keep up with the truck."

"Our kids today don't have much to look up to," he said. "This (truck) is something they can look up to."

The astronauts represent the best of America, he said. "They died for the future of our country."

Bob and B.J. do their part to preserve America's future by participating in Truckers Against Drugs and by refusing to haul illegal drugs or alcohol.

Bob and B.J. live near Atlanta, Ga., and have 4 children and 10 grandchildren.

In addition to hauling freight for DonCo Carriers Inc., they take the truck to children's hospitals. They have been invited to the Multiple Sclerosis parade in Canton, Ohio Sept. 4.

Bob said they are looking for a sponsor so they can travel to more hospitals.

"The kids will get something out of it. That's the bottom line."

I was 9 or 10 when this show came out. I have searched and searched for either a place on the net to stream it or purchase the 2 seasons on DVD. No luck at all. Youtube has all of season 1 but its overdubbed in French :(.

@Retired2015 Reading the article, Bob may have bought the tractor first, then bought the trailer later.
