you can look at the responses and decide who will be under the table at a company safety meeting. forward facing cameras i'm fine with. I actually intend to buy one. driver facing cameras are designed for one thing. to hang the driver. my brother was written up for cell phone use for calling 911 and reporting a serious crash with entrapment. the letter stuck despite my brother showing a 911 call on his phone history. you little dweebs that rely so heavily on technology to rule every part of your life need to simply become cashiers at wal mart where every second of your life is monitored. I also get a kick out of some of you criticizing older drivers. really? 3 million accident free miles her and 18 months from retirement. I guess i'm supposed to be ashamed of my record as I watch many of you clowns drive into bridges, park in the ditch, or play with the jake brake in the truck stop parking lot to impress other drivers with your international. I usually drive a governed truck. I accept that. I use e logs. I accept that. I have seen many changes in the last 35 years that I accept and am grateful for. my first truck was a cab over freightliner with no front brakes and no air conditioning from the factory. i'm glad things have changed and I embrace a safer work environment. funny how many of you little clowns look down your noses at those who have done what you will never be able to do...... like think for yourselves. we live in an industry ruled by lawyers and insurance companies more and more. I understand that, however, there has to be a line somewhere. for me, some college educated clown who can't do my job watching me scratch my nuts is a bit over the top. if you don't trust me, don't hire me. if my record isn't good enough, don't hire me. by the way. I see a lot of you younger drivers doing a helluva good job. proud to see you out there.

how big or small is the driver camera? was just thinking you could take a picture of the empty driver seat with a phone or camera, print up the picture and stick it to the lens. saftey guy will crap his pants when he sees the empty seat while truck is at 65.

Great Post!!! It is amazing how supposedly grown men allow themselves to be led around on a leash..

"You've got to stand for something or you will fall for anything" comes to mind.

Most companies will threaten with written discipline and/or termination if an in cab camera triggers and is thought to have been deliberately obstructed by the operator of the CMV. I know of a driver who flipped his right side sun visor down(at night) to block the camera and was written up for it.

I drive a daycab for a large LTL company and though I don't like the idea of the in cab camera, I am paid well and get to be home everyday...not living in a truck 24/7. I would not drive for an OTR company with driver facing cameras. It's the equivalent to having a camera in your home, apartment, ect.

No kidding, some people would pay money to gargle the safety manager's nads.

I don't want a camera on my truck, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker if everything else was what I was looking for.

and you the the type of driver that keeps letting companies take things from us.

There is no reason for a driver facing cam, forward facing is great. A driver facing cam is ONLY a weapon to use against the driver
