I have a ’99 KW W900L, 13spd and 3.55 rears, with a 3406e 1LW (stock) engine. I have read a lot on a properly tuned 3406e can deliver respectable MPG. I have also read a lot on the Pittsburg Power ECM, Pittsburg Power Box, Performance Diesel Inc ECM and even Cat ECM’s, but what I am trying to figure out is what is the best ECM or best setup for MPG? If it’s simply configuring the ECM properly, what are the parameters or information I need for getting the ECM properly tuned?
Thanks,
David

Without going into too much detail to avoid my slap on the wrist and getting thrown in TTR jail, a properly tuned Ecm can do wonders, stay away from a timing box (Pittsburg power box) they're junk high EGT's and more harm than good imo.
Come to think of it anything Pittsburg power doesn't exactly sound like anything to be wasting money on but to each their own. It's about like PDI I'd trust Haney but wouldn't give my hard earned money to PDI. 2 people 2 motors both manufacturers neither one lived more than about 30k and decided to go boom.
If you want to get a kItty right I'd call Haney or I'd get ahold of steven bradford out of jetmore ks. He's pretty decent too from what I've heard more expensive though. And I also believe he pushes motors a little too far at times but it's not his truck and it's not his money.
