Let me give everybody some very good advice. DO NOT LEASE A TRUCK! Trucking co. Do these lease truck deals to benefit them. NOT YOU. Stay far away from big companies. Werner, swift, j b hurt and others didn t get as big as they are by doing stupid business deals and PAYING DRIVES ALOT OF MONEY.
Find a good small company and work, save your money and buy a good used truck and become and owner operator and not a RENTER! Thats what i did 11 years ago and to day i work for a great company in florida. I own ( OWN ) a 2014 kw 680. 2100.00 amouth. But my pay is between 20,210 and 23,650 amouth.and fuel has NEVER been over 8600.00 amouth. I average between 11,610 and 15,050 amouth take. Yes. I pay my own fuel. I pay my own health insurance and its alot cheaper then the companies. I have very nice home, two cars, two iRA' s and my wife enjoy's staying home. If you do it RIGHT you CAN make a very decent living. Do it WRONG and you will NOT do anything but spin your wheels. OWN THE TRUCK AND SMALL COMPANY!

Great advice for potential o/o's. I would be VERY happy if I never had to hear about another driver who leased on with a company and went broke. Sadly they will just keep signing and megas will just keep getting richer on the backs of naive drivers with a dream.

Exactly right. Those lease deals aren't being offered out of kindness and compassion. They're being offered as a way for the company to make more money...period.

"naive drivers with a dream"...you said it right. There's always some starry eyed newbie coming along who thinks that, in spite of a ton of evidence to the contrary, he can make it.

Too many guys fall for the lease deal and they discover that they might be a good driver but they're not a good businessman. There's a difference...and the big companies who get the driver to sell his soul to the company store know that all too well.

    Wake up, guys and gals.
