I'm starting TMC's CDL training on March 21st. I have a DOT physical right now, but I know TMC still does their own physical. Could I get some info on what to expect with their physical? I'm a retired Marine so I'm not worried about the urinalysis or hair test I just wondered if their physical is more in depth. Maybe just some examples of things people got disqualified for, i.e medications etc. Also, any tips that i may need to know about before I take the physical. I'm new to the industry so sorry for all the questions but I'm just trying to find out information that might be helpful to me before I show up. Thanks and be safe out there.

Its just like anyother DOT physical I've done with any other company Ive driven for.... I only seen a couple cats get sent home for failed drug test... I didn't even do a hair folical test... I've heard of one of the newbies not being able to drive the truck or physically be able to carry tarps...

    Marine1 Thanks this.

I'm very interested in TMC, ever since a recruiter visited the school I'm attending I've been. I realize recruiters will say anything to get you on board with them. When he mentioned home every weekend had me thinking. My main concern is pay and home time just like everyone else. I've been pre approved to be in Des Moise on July 18, I have been told that they rent you a car to get out there. Any info is appreciated thanks.

It is true recruiters say anything, I say just go in with an open mind and not expect what your recruiter told you.... Now they are a decent starter company. I've been in the industry 12 years and worked for 3 other companies... The benefits are good, the pay is lucrative ,but it's a matter of getting with the right fleet manager that won't only keep his trainers running.... Im running, and average $3700 of revenue to the truck... delays at shippers and consignees (especially if at a job site) will be your crutch... expect hard work, have a flexible schedule, be willing to come out the house on Sunday afternoon, depending on your load requirement. Stay off the grass at the facilities.... The big plus is weekly hometime... They tell you working two weeks will increase your revenue, I have yet to see that... Many times I was on track to get 4400+ and a delay at shipper on a Wednesday evening caused me to arrive a couple hours late Thursday morning and the consignee refused to accept load and made me wait til Friday morning.... An entire day of waiting... They do rent the car, reimburse for fuel and toll, put you up in their on site Baymont motel, which is nice by the way, feed you lunch. First few are definitely gonna suck, but once you get things down, it will be consistent... Up until week of your service...
