I can only speak for the Cummins, no experience with DD15. Make sure to change the imap, exhaust pressure, and delta p sensors every 100 k miles. They plug up with soot and effects your mpg and they don't throw a code when they go bad. Have the overhead done. Cummins is a good engine since they redesigned it in 2010.

I would think both are good motors. Like anything, if you take care of them and don't mash the pedal everyone, they should last awhile. This is true for all motors except Paccar's and Maxforce, no matter what you do, those are still crap motors.

I have and love the 13sp. Now you do what you want but I don't lug the engine down past 1300-1350, bad for the bearings. Even though the book says 1200. Also, I use Delo 400 oil. Contains lots of zinc and Cummins loves zinc. Cuts down on the wear.

I've had two dd15 's and loved them both. I'm a huge fan of Detroit Diesel.

You guys really need to do your homework,Cummins engines have more problems with emissions than any other engine.
Egr valves are the number one problem followed by soot build up.
    Pre-emission Cummins are sweet

Volvo/Mack had trouble with fuel cups on pre 2013 and electrical problems.
    But getting better.
The ishift is almost built proof.

    Maxxforce is garbage.

Detroit's are good especially the pre egr.
The new DD series are prone to dpf filter trouble.

CAT is nice but stay away from the acert.

All this is out there so don't go by what he said she said

    Basically yes.
    It's all about preference.
Every engine new and old have trouble.

The Detroit series 60's are good but have issues as well.
Bearings and seals, not to mention flying apart when pushed beyond their limits

I have heard good and bad on the Paccar MX13.
It's a new engine so it has to take its lumps like every other engine out there.
Give it time,KW will drag their feet but you'll get back on the road.
    Eventually.
Hope you planned for a rainy day.
Lesson to be learned here newbies.

All engine brands have some type of problem. Just remember one thing if you are out of warranty. Cash is king in the owner op world .
