you can buy 4 x 4 x 8 feet from home depot or lowes for about $5 a peice.
what price does that place sell dunnage for?
you might look into a fabrication shop. if you can find one that'll give you the time of day and allow walkins. i've got 6 being built for $100. so i can turn my step into a flat. i'm thinking of adding 1 more foot so they can be pipe stakes also. that would make em 3 feet high.
Need a lead on pipe stakes.

Many pipe yards will not load pipe with stakes in pockets.
The pipe holders must be welded to frame and attached underneath and welded to frame their also. NO cracks !
Shell, BP and Chevron safety will inspect and reject any tubular at location
Striped and chocked all four sides with two nails in each FYI.. -
I don't doubt what you say;as I have not made a career hauling pipe out of Houston, but after running a chain across the deck attached to the two stakes in pocket-I was never refused a load.At least the places I went.
And of course this should be done anyway. For safety, and quite the fine if caught not securing the pipe stakes BEFORE the pipe is loaded. Anyway..This is what has always worked for me..
CAXPT Thanks this. -
I was going to put the real ones most pipe haulers use, my problem is it voids the warranty on the trailer because your cutting the rub rails....my 2nd problem I'm not sure about is with that set up there wider than the trailer making it 105" or 1.1/2" on each side. I run all over and would hate to have a problem down the road for being wide or the pipe stakes sticking out.

Bayou I have never heardof anyone getting a ticket or hassled abut it maybe it falls into the category of load securement
-
Everyone is just getting very picky, worried about liability and CYA. The rates are so low most of it is only good for a back haul anyway.
I just got to the point it was not worth moving the stuff.
By the time you wait a few hours to get loaded then wait to get unloaded and forklift damage to trailer they can have it. -
ya it would be legal while hauling pipe but what about hauling anything else. Iv'e pulled permits for loads that were only 103" wide.....its just one of them things its up to the officer that gets you!

Where can I find pipe stakes in dallas ft worth area?
-
Not that a driver would have the means to produce them on the road, but my company literally buys up old round tube steel, heats up the one end and pounds it into a flat. Very cheap, and very effective.

You can do that with square tube too, have four of them sitting in the corner of the shed.
