Going from the North Dakota oil fields at the top of the oil boom back to the East Coast working for pennies was definitely a huge culture shock. At least before I could afford to do fun things with my kids

The whole radio has been "doctored", never-mind that's not the "verbiage" I used, that's what you paid for. Your happy with the results so what does it matter. Doctored, altered, aligned, tuned. Semantics. Some align the meter to match the tune. If he didn't tell you and you didn't ask, what do you know? Only his friend RP would possibly know. Also, if the meter was matched to the tune, why wouldn't you want that?

From the video it sounds like a lot of noise for the needle to be so low, must have the speaker really loud.
But yeah, pulling someone from 30 miles away using 4 watts of power with little to no noise would be a great demo. Pulling in a signal 30 miles away using the 100-200 watts of that radio, would be what one expect, no?

It concerned me because it seemed the needle did not seem to move proportionate to the noise. But you addressed that in your videos.

It sounds pretty good Evvy, not as quiet as I thought it would be, but like you explained video may have made it louder than it really is, it sounds similar to my Galaxy 99v2 which I just recently had realigned at Clays. Did you have the NB/ANL on when you made the video? Overall is the receive better than when you first got it from Bells? I must admit its a sharp looking radio, I have always liked Galaxy radios, I also have a 45mp, 48T , and a 44 ( single final) hope you are enjoying it so far.

Known this for a while, I use a power bank to charge my phone unless I'm on my break.

Galaxies are noisy no matter what, but that is the best I've heard, way better than my 979 was prior to giving it to Mark. I still need to get it. Ugh. Hopefully once I start driving for the new company I'll actually start to have some disposable income again...

I agree Volvo I had a 929 that I had to keep the rf gain at 1200 or it drove me nuts, awesome audio though, single final mosfet stock, from my experience the Galaxy 3 digit radios have more static than the export 2 digit ones, however I have never owned a 949 or 959 but I hear the receive is pretty quiet on those, but you are right Volvo Evvys 98 sounds pleasing to the ear even with rf gain cranked up.

He hasn't had it back long enough to find out how pleasing it really is when he hears a long-distance station
