In the days I ran into Ontario the exchange rate was round .64 so that your American Dollar just got a roughly 35% pay raise (Or a 35% reduction in all costs such as meals) just by going across the border and staying there.

God I made money hand over fist in those months... It was a incredible time with so much money that there was temptation to hit he casino or perhaps catch a girlfriend up there in Windsor once customs got cleared out of the way.

He is not one of those that leaves his truck. He brings it home with him. It has the same chance as anything getting stolen off of any truck you step away from. Dont go stupid places.

I like to install an Honda 3000i with electric start, but I don't know how to sleep at night knowing that I spent over $2500 for something that anybody can steal it, not very hard to do it..
I do local and leave the truck in company yard. Lifting 100lb generator 2 times a day+ fuel not very practical.
I always wonder how these people install so expensive generators. I would go with something very heavy and cheap.

I don't. My portable, in it's frame rail carriage box, the exhaust for it is just in front of the forward drive tire, over 3 feet from the rear of the sleeper and facing rearward. Pretty low risk setup, especially only using about 1 gallon in 8 hrs. Nobody knows I have a portable generator and even when it is running, nice and secure and protected from weather.

    With box closed up......

With the box vents open and generator inside running. Exhaust vents out the rear...

That is the setup I was planning for Honda 3000i, but I don't feel ok to leave it there when I go home. It's ok to secure while on the road, but when I'm not near by, I'll be worried. I would still be inclined to put it in the trunk, and that is a deal breaker for me. I can afford to purchase one but not to loose one. I would really like that Honda 3000i. It's portable but, not that portable, I would have to lift it every day, and that is what kill the deal. I could go for 2 Honda 2000i in parallel, that would give me 4000watts, enough for any type of ac.
Or I could go for Honda 3000 handi, look like 3000i but wheight roughly 78lb vs 100lb. But the Honda 3000 handi doesn't come with electric start.

I just run the Honda 2000. Carry it where my passenger seat used to be. When I use it overnight I open the hood, put on ground beside axle and a big bike lock then close the hood. I am not worried about someone stealing it, more so because I don't park in a place where that is likely to happen...

In places like laredo I opt to pay for idle air anyway.
