Thinking about leasing on with Celadon...need feedback from current o/ops

Take it to Interstate,where you can choose your own freight

 

I was going to say- when does celadon allow you to choose

 

I dont believe you can choose,you have to use certain brokers.
Youll make just enough,to make your truck payment.
Too many fees.

 

I'm not at Celadon nor have I ever been. But I do know that chasing the $$$ and not caring about location or miles is a good way to end up in CO or MT and start the downward spiral to bankruptcy. I'm not saying that is what you are doing. But I also know that these are not the answers you want to hear.

It sounds like you would prefer a dispatcher? I say or ask this because you seem unhappy with whoever you are leased to that allows you to self dispatch. Self dispatch can be hard as often a $4000 load looks better then a $1000. I am curious as to the answers you will receive. And I apologize if I come off wrong. I'm not trying to say that you are asking or doing anything wrong. The fact that you are asking questions is a good start.

 

I wouldn't lease to any company for mileage unless they pay around $2.00. Go %. 70 or better. ask about trailer rental and freight insurance. Keep dead head low and shorter runs pay better. money is made by using less fuel. High dollar short halls.

 

just because they say 70% doesn't necessarily mean it's a good deal. What would you prefer.
