Well... You pull into a shop right? On duty right? Reciepts generated right? Two reciepts with matching mileage within 30 days 15K apart ... DOT wants to examine the logs a bit closer if you are not a team driver.
I don't know how to put it any other way. I might try to use alphabet blocks and empty oil cans to demonstrate.

He is talking about an audit catching that.
We change our Kitties at 12k. I now have 880k on the clock (an acert even) and I have to put in 1 gallon at the 6k mark. Don't even need a sticker now, when the second gallon needs to be put in it is time for the change. We also use a non synthetic oil.3ARTransport Thanks this. -

When they do an audit they look at your maintenance logs too..3ARTransport Thanks this.

I keep records of all my maintenance on a spreadsheet. But for oil changes on my logs, I've always done them between runs at home on my 3-4 days off. So I would never have that "on duty" on my logs. But records I do have.

I run rotella in my n14 525 HP and drain at 20k ..it will be down a gallon at the 10k mark like clock work which is reasonable... I don't idle much tho and keep my foot out of it ...in the past I've driven for some fleets that ran 35k drains on n14s and they were drinking oil by 25k and by 750k needed overhauled ...
3ARTransport Thanks this. -

Dang, what the story on that sad puppy.

You're always talking about miles. What about hours on the oil?
Many of the trucks I see idling which puts wear on the oil as well.
I have about 2% idling on my engine and do the recommended 25000 miles. No problem on the oil sample. I have to top up between oilchange but the engine is known for it. It's a Kitten KCB. -
Thanks, but I have very little time idling too with my apu. So I tend to use miles. Thanks
